Ever want to know what beauty products other women carry in their purse?
My fellow Make Up Artist and friend Mary Klimek shared her personal bag of lip glosses and lipsticks that she carries in her purse…Mary has 16 glosses and lipsticks that she loves and uses all day long in her personal make up bag, and that isnt even touching on what she uses for her work… Here is a peak inside her personal lip bag.
As for me, I have a lip balm and 2 glosses that I carry and use regularly. For my work as a professional Make Up Artist though is very different. I have a closet in my office devoted to storing make up and a suitcase on wheels that I take on jobs with my make up kit. My lipgloss collection began to grow a few years back when I worked with Hilary Duff and would buy lip glosses in bulk regularly so that we always had something new to use for one of her events or appearances. I think Hilary took my love of glosses to new levels and for a few years I preferred them to lipsticks almost exclusively. That has come back around for me and I love lipsticks again as well as glosses. For this post I decided to share the current lip glosses that I take on jobs with me. This is in addition to lipsticks that I carry as well. These glosses are divided by reds and dark colors, orange/peach/bronze colors, pinks and nudes. I add and change these on a regular basis.
Here is a peak inside of my lip gloss kit. Some of the lines I use most are Lancome, NARS, Lorac, Benefit, Givency and MAC to CoverGirl, Victoria Secret and Khiels.
In my work I love mixing both lipsticks and glosses to create a color and consistency that I want or mix several lip glosses together. You can try this yourself, it’s a great way to create a sheer wash of color or more depth and dimension to a color. A longtime favorite look I love to create is mixing lipsticks and then adding Lancome Juicy Tube in Miracle to add dimension and shimmer. It’s is one of my go to glosses that always looks great on everyone and adds something special to whatever color I mix it with. Playing with lip color is a great way to add drama and freshen up your make up look quickly and easily. So go on and mix up some fun.. it’s just make up!
